1. Location
Amsterdam
Located close to Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport and major Internet Exchanges, our Amsterdam AMS1 data center offers the best in security, connectivity and sustainability.
Reliability and security
A purpose-built concrete and steel facility, AMS1 is designed for resilience. Redundant network capabilities and disaster recovery rooms ensure your business continuity in case of emergency. Strict entry policies and other procedures mean access to the data center interior is tightly controlled.
Green and lean
With its ultra-low PUE, redundant 2N dedicated power and cooling infrastructure, AMS1 is one of the greenest data centers in the region. By maintaining a very low PUE throughout the year we minimize costs and so can offer customers highly competitive prices.
Premium connectivity
Our AMS1 facility is home to a thriving ecosystem of providers and enterprises who enjoy access to over 2000 peered networks. Our partnerships with AMS-IX, NL-IX and LINX (all hosted in AMS1) give you direct access to one of the largest internet exchanges in the world. In addition, our IXroom offers affordable interconnection options with many more networks.
Personal support 24/7
Highly experienced support engineers are on site 24/7 to perform regular and Remote Hands maintenance activities.
Designed for growth
In our most recent part of the data center we use separate modular data center suites which make it easy to scale up as your needs change. Overall, the data center currently spans more than 12.000m² and has room to expand to 40.000m².
Convenient
Apart from its handy location just 16 km from Schiphol Airport, 1.500m from the A5-A9 highway and less than 800m from Haarlem Spaarnwoude rail station, we also offer the convenience of office space for customers so you can work as close as possible to your business critical IT framework. In addition, we provide various secure and private storage rooms next to (or even in) the offices themselves.

2. Building Concepts
Building Concepts
Our data centers have been designed to maximize efficiency – especially in terms of energy and power. Smart design also makes them easily scalable.
Cost-effective cooling
Advanced cooling solutions drastically reduce energy consumption. Unlike conventional data centers which use wasteful compressors, we have implemented our own “Free Cooling” concept. This energy efficient cooling technique makes intelligent use of the outside air to cool the interior of the data center.
-
Redundant cooling ACU (2N)
-
Hot & cold aisle containment
-
High-density cooling solutions
-
Standard 5.5kW (Higher density on request)
-
Temperature 24 °C
Energy efficient power use
With a current energy capacity of 25 MW and the option to increase this to 60, we guarantee the highest possible data center power availability while using less power than standard data centers. This results in a substantial cost reduction. Although operating on the same basic floor plans as many other data centers we make exceptionally efficient use of energy.
Because we use multiple power sources, our data centers always have enough power to run your mission-critical applications:
-
Fully redundant site
-
100% renewable energy
-
High density solutions (>32 kW)
-
Best-in-class efficient UPS
-
99.999 % uptime
-
25 MVA capacity
Modular designs for easy scalability
Pre-engineered and standardized modules containing racks mean you can expand capacity simply by adding one module at a time. This unique design also delivers energy savings thanks to integrated cooling and electrical systems which achieve the lowest PUEs in the market.

3. Security
Data center security is our priority and our facilities are heavily secured against all possible threats, ensuring minimum risk and maximum uptime for your mission-critical applications.
Security measures
We take extreme precautions to safeguard your hardware and data. Only people authorized by you have access to your facilities. And anybody applying for access to the data center has to identify him or herself with a passport or driver’s license.
All of our security systems are tested continuously and are third-party-certified. In addition, our dedicated security team is in direct contact with all necessary local agencies to ensure complete protection of the data center.

4. Sustainability
We believe it is our responsibility – to ourselves, our customers, and the wider world – to do everything we can to make our data centers as sustainable as possible, and maximize their energy efficiency.
Sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand
100% green energy. No compromises. EvoSwitch operated the first certified carbon-neutral data centre in the Netherlands, and we have been leaders in sustainability best practice ever since. Today, we use a combination of wind power, hydro and biomass.
An optimized IT infrastructure goes hand-in-hand with sustainability, minimizing long-term environmental impact. That’s why we place a strong emphasis on efficiency in the design and operation of our data centers. We are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint. The resulting sustainable solutions are independently certified. And we are pleased to say that we have received global recognition for our efforts.
-
Powered by 100% renewable energy
-
Very low PUE scores
-
Range of design and operations best practice save 60-80% on energy usage:
-
Free cooling
-
Advanced datafloor management, e.g. cables through ducts, no hot spots
-
Lighting linked to movement sensors
-
Modular build-out to minimize power overhead
-
BMS (Building Management System) to optimize efficiency
Driving down PUE
One of the keys to our success over recent years has been our focus on PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness: the ratio of total energy used by a facility to the energy delivered to equipment.). Our latest data center halls score very low PUE levels throughout the year – which means the vast majority of the power consumed is used to run your applications. Not only does the low PUE support our green targets but it cuts costs which is reflected in the competitive rates we can offer to customers.
5. Certifications
EvoSwitch is an industry leader in implementing third-party-certified standards, conducting constant reviews and refreshes to ensure that we operate to the latest standards requirements across all customer sectors.
