Construction is on track, and completion is expected in Q3 of this year. We have reached a point where we can start testing our electrical systems. We will be conducting a swing-source test between the generator of our new building and the current one.

What does this mean for you?
A critical part of this maintenance is scheduled for weeks 12 and 13 (March 18 to 29). Impact on services is not expected; nevertheless, we do advise you to move your workload to other instances if available and not schedule any maintenance on your services.

  • Maintenance start: Monday, March 18, 2024
  • Maintenance end: Friday, March 29, 2024

Our datacenters comply with TIER III standards, and we have multiple certifications such as ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 27001:2013, and ISAE 3402. This ensures our team has the right protocols in place to provide you with the highest level of service.

Dear Customers,

We have experienced an aggregation router outage in Greenhouse Datacenters 1 in Westland. During the reboot of both (redundant) aggregation routers all connectivity was lost, and all servers in Greenhouse Datacenters 1 in Westland were unreachable.  We are currently still investigating the issue and will follow up shortly.

If you have any further questions related to this outage, please feel free to contact us at support@rootlayer.net

Update 05:10 CEST: We're suspecting a software bug on our aggregation routers. We're currently escalating with our vendor to investigate further.

Update 08:31 CEST: We just got confirmed this outage has been caused by a software bug by our vendor. The bug was listed with a low severity as it gets hit under very rare circumstances. We are planning a non-impacting upgrade for next week, during this upgrade we will upgrade the redundant aggregation routers one-by-one.

Note: This is not a global issue. Just for Westland (Netherlands) Datacenter users.

I am sending you this mailing to inform you of a scheduled maintenance which will take place in the upcoming weeks, to upgrade our network from 10 Gbit to 100 Gbit uplinks.
In order to do this with as little downtime as possible, we need to make preparations, so we are ready for a smooth migration.

Over the past couple of months, our network has been growing exponentially, so this upgrade is critical to support our future growth. Our current core network is currently capable of around 240 Gbit/s.
After the migration, we'll have a core backbone of 640 Gbit with expandable options to >3 Tbit/s.

Please write the following date in your agenda:

Friday 6th October 2017 @ 7:00-7:30h AM CEST. (preparation)

Start hour: 7:00 CEST
End hour: 7:30h CEST (30 Minutes later)

ETA downtime: max 15 minutes for a core routing reboot

Another maintenance window will follow 1 week later, to do the final upgrade to 100 Gbit ports.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this migration, feel free to get in touch. I am happy to answer any questions you might have.

Note: if you have Dedicated servers with us with *EVO* sign, only this above message is for you. Other signed Dedicated servers are from different Datacenters and this message is not aplicable there.

We are currently facing STP flapping on some of our routers which is causing timeouts on a part of our datacenter. We are very sorry for the problems that may occure with the connection to your servers.

Our networking team has handled the issues with highest priority and they found a bug on a certain type of network switches RootLayer uses. This caused the switches to overload, the switches in return started to reload. This is what caused the down-time. Our networking team has completely removed the protocol which caused the bugs from the named switches and blocked all traffic that communicated with this protocol. The network has now stabilized and we can assure you that this issue has been permanently solved. We would like to thank you for your faith in RootLayer and we would like to offer our sincere apologies for the inconveniences with the network lately.
